Anna-Marie Romero is one of the EPA Region 7 Environmental Justice liaisons for the Office of the Regional Administrator including the Regional EJSCREEN coordinator and the Environmental Justice Tribal and Indigenous Peoples Advisor (EJTIPA). As the EJSCREEN coordinator, she provides training on the EJSCREEN tool including how to interpret data so stakeholders can incorporate Environmental Justice principles into daily program activities. She also oversees the Children’s Environmental Health Program and is known for her work in creating curriculum to teach childcare providers about childhood lead poisoning prevention for the Regional Lead Initiative. She is a citizen of Little Traverse Bay Band of Odawa Indians. She has a bachelor’s in Business Administration from Haskell Indian Nations University and a Master of Urban Planning from the University of Kansas. Anna-Marie oversees EPA’s Region 7 Haskell Liaison Program, developed to provide students with opportunities in the federal sector. She has a passion for helping communities. Throughout her work she finds ways to improve systems and practices surrounding us to ensure that all people can access equitable opportunities and better our environment and quality of life. She believes through inclusion you can build greater morale and can strengthen collaboration throughout communities.
